Great for deep frying.

I bought this item to fry stuff like potato chips in. I thought it would be better than other things that I had looked at for deep frying. I enjoy the size and depth of this cast iron dutch oven, and it really does good chips safely., nice and heavy... It is very large and you can fit a lot in it. The oil stays good when covered ( when cool ) and does not spoil or turn bad like I thought it would.

I priced several other dutch ovens and this one was the most reasonable. Considering what they're made of and what they're intended to do, why pay more? I initially thought that the color would seem out of place in my black and stainless kitchen, but it didn't. Not at all. I made my first loaf of no knead bread in it and it came out beautifully crusty followed up by my world famous homemade chili. What's not to like? If you've been wanting a Dutch Oven, give this a shot. I don't think that you'll be disappointed.

Pot heats up evenly and cooks chuck roast just right. It's recommended that the pot is not placed in cold water immediately after cooking and do not boil anything for a long time. Simmering is best way for cooking. A 2.5lb chuck roast takes 3 hrs for a melt in your mouth texture. It's perfect for me.
