ASUS VivoBook Laptop S712JA‑WH54 17.3" 8GB/1TB + 128GB Silver

I have been trying to find the perfect laptop/computer for awhile now since I am homeschooling two kids. When I noticed I could get this ASUS VivoBook S17, S712 Laptop I was beyond excited! First I love the big screen size. 17.3 inches. The pictures and words come in so clear! I also love that it has a fingerprint scanner to unlock it, making it so much easier for my 7 year old to get up and scan her finger to start her school work, so much easier than typing in a password, which you can also set up. Another awesome feature is the lighted keyboard. You can change the brightness for it, or even shut it off, also your fingers literally slide right across the keys. As soon as I got it, I tried powering it on, and the battery was completely dead, so I put it on charge. Not even 40 minutes later it was fully charged. Both my kids completed all of todays school work on it, and the battery is still 91% charged. This laptop also has a build in camera, and it takes clear photos. Its so easy to use. It is a little heavy which is nice. All of the featured buttons are clear so you know exactly what they are for. The sound is pretty loud, however I wish it was a bit louder. Other than that, this is the perfect laptop for everyday use and I highly recommend it.

The setup process was slower than I have previously experienced with other brands, but around thirty minutes. There was not an option to skip things that I remember not dealing with the last time I set up a computer. Once I logged into my Microsoft account though, it quickly updated my settings and changed my display based on what is set on my desktop, which I thought was neat. The laptop has a 17 inch screen, but only weighs just over five pounds (5lbs, 1.35oz on a kitchen scale). That is a lot of screen to work with or enjoy videos on. It had no issues running a few side-scroller games from Steam. The design of the speakers integrated into the keyboard is also very attractive and subtle. The sound quality It is not so easy to find laptops with as much storage as this Asus offers. (Great option for people who do not quite trust cloud storage! Or prefer drive and cloud copies.) Laptops are not generally known for having the ability to store a lot, but this one does. It is a full keyboard. The keyboard's “ErgoLift” design is actually pretty cool. It raises the back of the keyboard when the screen is open - a nice feature. The keyboard is backlit, but the lighting is subtle. Really hard to get it to show up in a picture, even when I turned out the lights. This is attractive if you are working with adequate light. As for Netflix or late night video watching, the backlights may not be enough for quick key mashing. Did not expect the charger to be a highlight, but check out this thing. Added a pen for scale. It is so small. It can be tucked into a purse or bag easily. Not bulky at all. It's barely larger than some cell phone chargers. Was pleasantly surprised by the size of the charger. The laptop charges quickly. After a night of use, it took around forty minutes to charge back up. I do wish the power button was a little removed from the rest of the keyboard. The space is there to have it elsewhere, so this is a design choice. Paranoid I am going to hit it on accident in the middle of a report or something. Overall, I see this laptop as a work computer or entertainment computer (YouTubes, Streaming Services, etc.). I would recommend it for these functions. Would not picture it for any sort of gaming or high-end design/graphic machine work. The screen size is impressive and the laptop is so portable.
