Pixie Dust Pinks

My mother used L'Oreal lipstick when I was a child in the Eighties and early Nineties and I remember that smell--like roses and candy apples. I'm so thrilled that the Colour Riche range still looks and smells the same when other brands seem to have gotten more bland over time so as not to risk offending anyone with glamour. Scarlet Gold was my mom's shade--long obsolete, but I still remember it and have never seen another lipstick like it. It was a sheer, plummy, semi-matte red with a dusting of gold to warm it up and give dimension and depth, and I'm so happy to see L'Oreal has brought out this pixie dust again for their new range of pinks. The sheer matte formula alone is new and exciting, and (along with that magic gold glow to keep things life-like) is the ideal vehicle for a bold pink that might otherwise be too much. Blake's Pink looks outrageous in the tube, but very cool and kind of 60's Mod on my lips, or so I flatter myself to think. I put it on and imagine that I'm an Italian housewife dressed up to go to the market where I have a crush on the butcher or something. Julianne's Pink is similarly complex and Mod (Moore's shade for the Nude range is even more exciting and I plan on stockpiling them. It reminds me of another defunct L'Oreal shade called Desert Flight). Well, there you have it-- from an amateur lipstick historian. Stay the same, Colour Riche.
