I bought this laptop after 2 weeks of research and watching the Black Friday sales. Got it for $439 plus sales tax, which was the deciding factor as I was limited by a $500 budget for this purchase. It replaces a 12-year old HP desktop, to the goal was to have a more mobile, much faster PC, without breaking the bank. This laptop does that. I have been using it for a week and I am very pleased with this machine. I run MS Office, a hobby database application, a car maintenance tracking database application, Mozilla Thunderbird eMail client, Mozilla Firefox web browser, and the usual suite of apps everyone uses like Acrobat, MS Edge, etc. Everything runs crisply with no problems. This version of the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15.8" comes with the AMD Ryzen 7 processor and has integrated AMD Radeon graphics. I am not a gamer, so I did not buy a higher-end laptop that is a dedicated gaming machine, but according to many reviews and other Lenovo users of this laptop, it can handle many games well, though not the most demanding, cutting-edge games. But likely enough titles to satisfy many home and business users who want some occasional diversion to relax. The touchpad on this laptop is fine, but nothing special. I've never really like touchpads as I find all of them to be more awkward to use than a mouse. I had a spare Logitech wireless mouse handy and immediately pressed it into service with this machine with no problems. I just popped it's USB transmitter into one of the USB ports and I was good to go. Another thing about the touchpad, it is not centered. I find that a bit weird, but it's not a big deal to me since I rarely will use it. The screen is fine. The 15.8" size works well when I am mobile. When at home I use the HDMI port and a cable to plug it into my TCL 55" big screen TV in my living room which I really love when chilling out in the evening doing some work on the machine because it's a lot easier for me to read (I am 62 years old) and I don't have to crane my neck downward for hours to look at the laptop screen. The color display is decent, but nothing on the spectacular end of the scale, but not ugly either. The average person will be perfectly fine with it. The keyboard is very good. Soft and easy to touch-type on and not overly loud, so it is unlikely to disturb others in the same room with you. It has a 10-key pad to the right as well, which I like having, but I do HATE that the NUMLOCK key is right next to the BACKSPACE key and I frequently find myself hitting NUMLOCK when I'm just wanting to backspace. Very irritating, but I can live with it at this price point. The laptop also comes with many useful Hot Keys at the top of the keyboard that are very useful and save you many mouseclicks. The setup process for this machine was reasonably straightforward and easy and the maintenance softward from Lenovo is good. Only real complaint is nag screen pop-ups for purchasing bloatware. Otherwise, I'm very happy.
