The Impressions Downton 50 Gallon Rain Saver is one of the sturdiest and most eye-catching rain barrels on the market. Its appearance emulates the texture of European cobblestone, and with a deep welled top, you can plant an array of flowers or even a small herb or vegetable garden. The top also includes the Good Ideas original, integrated channel that automatically diverts overflow to the front of the barrel and keeps your foundation from flooding. The large opening can be used for 2x3 or 3x4 downspouts and is covered with a soft, fine mesh, plastic screen that keeps out heavy debris. Also included with the barrel are two sturdy brass spigots to install in the offset spigot locations.

Good and not so good
The brass fittings are nice and solid but the bottom one is rather high up and leaves a lot of water in the barrel. The planter area is nice to have but too shallow to provide much of a base for plants, plus a good rain coming from a typical slanted gutter spout will splash over into the planter area and blast a lot of dirt out of the planter onto the ground or your deck.
