A wonderful water collector

I purchased one of these last year and loved it so bought another one this year. We in adverdently put the diverter from the downspout too high so it didn't divert water back to the downspout when the barrel was full. Which is why I bought another one and the connector hose to connect them together. Works great. During a big downpour though it filled both barrels and then ran all over the back porch. I simply pulled out the hose that came from the downspout and let the water go out into a flowerbed.

Urn while I learn

I've cosidered getting a water collecting barrel for years. [...] Setting it up was straight forward, but one part was no good. The hose clamp that holds the hose on could not be tightened--the threads kept jumping instead of tightening. Upon close inspection, wouldn't you know, that part was made in China! Typical Chinese junk. I'm pretty sure that there is an American manufacturer of hose clamps still around somewhere. I won't go on with a soapbox lecture, but we (American companies) must go back to buying American products! Anyway, the water urn is great. Right after I installed it we had a deluge and it fill up in about 10 minutes. My thirsty little plants will be smiling this summer.
