Creative Communities: Regional Inclusion and the Arts is the first collection to re-imagine and analyse the role of the creative arts in fashioning resilient and inclusive regional communities. The collection includes chapters from Australia’s leading theorists in the creative industries, as well as applied case studies from established and emerging practitioners in the creative and performing arts. Introducing new material from high-impact research projects, the contributors reconceptualize the meaning of regionalism, and the position of creative spaces in non-metropolitan centres. 

Divided into three sections – ‘Rethinking Regionalism’, ‘Returning Creativity’, and ‘Restoring Community’ – and drawing on Australian case studies that have application throughout the Global North, contributors explore the cultural ties that bind communities in regional settings and suggest new ways in which the creative arts can strengthen and refashion inclusive communities.
