Disappointed

I wish I could write a glowing review for this product, but unfortunately I cannot. We've had this lock for about one year. Our phones are Android based so we still have to relay on our fobs to open the lock The battery n the fob lasts only maybe 10 days to two weeks and needs to be replaced. Needless to say, we haven't been using the keyless entry, as the fobs are usually not working. I've spent $$$ on batteries that don't last. Still waiting for the Android App, which doesn't really seem to be coming. So far, my husband and I feel this product was a waste of money.

Hi Jane, We're very sorry to read that you are dissapointed with your Kevo, and the at your FOB's batteries are not lasting. We'll have a consumer service agent reach out to you as soon as possible with replacement FOBs. If they continue to be hard on batteries, please send us a message at customercare@kwikset.com. We are working very hard on our Android platform. For the most up to date list of compatible devices, please visit http://www.kwikset.com/kevo/compatibility. Thank you, Devon

Convenient when it works

This was installed on our apartment door before we moved in, so we have no choice about its existence because we can't remove it. However, the choice to stop using it always remains, and the longer we stay here.. the more I consider this. Obviously there are all the advantages of not having to use an actual key to open your door, which probably becomes most convenient when your hands are full of grocery bags, or whatever else that prevents them from being useful in any additional way. But half the time, I will touch the lock and wait for it to open, and it doesn't open. So I touch it again. Usually it opens on the second try, but not always. This is incredibly aggravating because my phone is never more than half a foot away from the lock as it is always in my left pocket. I'm very tall, so distance between the lock and my phone cannot possibly be an issue. At this point, it would be faster for me to physically pull my keys out of my other pocket and unlock the door that way, than it is for me to use this application that is supposed to do it for me. What is the point, then? The batteries have been replaced, the software updates have been installed and are up to date. To me there is nothing more infuriating than standing there like an idiot, waiting for your own door to let you into your residence after touching the lock repeatedly. Burns me right up.

Plastic Internals

Bought two and had a locksmith install them - only to be told that he doesn't rate them at all because when you take them apart, there's a week plastic link which is the only thing preventing it from being secure. He also mentioned that it's not rated (in Australia at least) for an external door lock (so when your insurance asks if you have deadlocks to all doors, you have to say no).

Hi BertyBeetle, Thank you for your feedback. Kevo 2nd Generation is rated by ANSI and the BHMA as a Grade 2 deadbolt, and is UL Fire Rated. The SmartKey cylinder inside your Kevo is our most advanced version yet and was released in 2016. We had locksmiths with over 130 combined years of experience try to pick, bump, and force their way through our SmartKey cylinder, the results can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWCmEvp4zq0 If you have any additional questions about your Kevo product, we're happy to help you at 1-800-327-5625.
