I purchased this chuck for use in the tailstock of my metal lathe. I used it to hold a 1/4x20 tap for tapping on my lathe but if I reversed the spindle the chuck would unlock, which is not good. I am debating whether to return it or not. I will be using my keyed chuck for this purpose. Won't buy it again.
