Perfect “out of the box” drone. Connectivity %26 calibration are very easy to configure to get you flying in minutes(just make sure you go through the steps each time %26 after a crash)! Windy conditions can add a little frustration for a new flyer so patience is key to this learning curve. Inside this drone rips! Obstacle avoidance worked so much better than anticipated, return to home works great enough to give a bit more confidence to the pilot, %26 this thing can take a beating overall. As far as the camera goes, it's not going to be shooting the best of the best. For the price tag, this drone can really give you the feel for getting a camera up in the air. That was the main reason for the purchase was to see how it felt controlling video/photo aspects from a drone. This drone really gives you the tools to learn to fly as well as taking video and photo. The photos and video were easily uploaded to some post production programs for fine tuning %26 pictures ended up pretty decent! Had a couple questions for customer service… they were worth ALL the stars. Great comprehensive help, their attention to detail is insane…. I wish all companies maintained customer relations like this.

The D96 Drone is similar in design to the popular, and much pricier, Mini 3 Pro. The weight of the D96 in ready-to-fly mode is around 140 grams so it does not require a Remote ID module here in the USA as of this review. The drone came packed well within a separate box and was delivered by the Seller RC Drone Club by FedEx in less than 48 hours from the initial order placed on Walmart.com. Unpacking, final configuration and Phone App download and setup took about 15 minutes. The drone was up and flyable with stable flight and hovering and did not require any special tweaks or tuning of the RC controller. The drone was responsive to the RC Controller and all functions I initiated seemed to work without any issues. The video and still pictures from the drone are downloaded to the phone (No SD Memory card is supported on this drone) and while not too bad for a drone at this price point, the videos were shaky/wavey and the still images were not very crisp despite the drone sporting a 4K ESC camera capability. It is important to note that to get the clearest video and images, the lenses on the drone (4 forward facing and 2 downward facing) have a protective plastic film that should be removed, although this is not mentioned in the instruction manual anywhere. Among several advanced flight control features, the D96 has object avoidance on 4 sides, camera can be adjusted up/down a full 150 degrees (but is very coarse). On the drone I received, the camera UP/DOWN Tilt buttons were reversed on the RC Controller although the instruction manual points out the correct button to use for those functions. The drone has a one-key RTH in case it loses connection to the RC Controller, Headless mode, does flips/rolls, allows lights on/off, sports 3 flight speeds and allows Fine Tuning of flight drift (left/Right %26 Front/Rear). The drone and RC Controller operate on 2.4Ghz WiFi so the flight range should be pretty long, and interference should be minimal. The remote controller does hold a large phone (mine is a Note 20 Ultra 5G) but does not hold the phone with any type of case on the phone so you risk damage to the phone if it should fall from the controller during use. A few negatives were noted; the RC controller Camera UP/DOWN Tilt buttons were reversed/mislabeled, the RC controller is not rechargeable (requires 3 AAA batteries), drone does not support an SD memory card for Video/Pictures, the Video/Pictures are not the clearest. D96 drone comes with 3 batteries, prop guards, extra props, screwdriver, case, USB Micro charge cable, and User manual. Overall, the D96 drone seems to be a great option for beginners or intermediate drone pilots while the cost is a fraction of the other popular drone model. The advertised features offered on the D96 drone were easy to set up and operate. The D96 is a stable flyer out of the box and my ordering. Delivery and flying experience was positive.
