Olympic 1574045 1 Gal Maximum Transparent Stain & Sealant Honey Toner, Pack of 4

We had a cedar dog-eared fence installed 15 years ago. We have large Newfoundland dogs who often jump up and look over the fence to say hello to neighbors - or chase squirrels and rabbits from the yard. I've power-sprayed it with a low-pressure power sprayer every 5 years, let it completely dry for a few days in the hot August or September sun and then coated and sealed the fence with Olympic Maximum. Just completed the third cycle this past September - its a long fence for a big yard. The fence is still in great condition and looks fantastic despite weather, dirt and large dog paws and scratches. As advertised, the products lasts approximately 5-6 years before it begins to fade and allow water penetration. The Olympic stain applies easily with a brush or a sprayer.

I applied 2 coats of this product 5 years ago to a new-ish cedar board-on-board fence, when the product touted 3 year protection. It was fairly easy to apply with a natural bristle brush once I got the hang of the cedar's rough texture. It is JUST NOW fading in spots and time to reapply. I'm glad I traded a few extra dollars for the few extra years between projects. I'm sad to see so many bad reviews about the new version of this product! The color was beautiful and it lasted every bit as long as it said it would. With a new formula not performing as well now I have to reconsider buying it again. Tip to the manufacturer: if a product doesn't sell as much, sometimes it's because IT WORKS! Don't let your quest for profit lead to lesser quality products.
