WARNING, DO NOT BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY

I spent a lifetime in customer service and understand that mistakes will happen, devices will fail, but it's not so much the magnitude of the failure as the speed and quality with which the customer service team responds that either wins or looses a customer for ever. My laptop started having issues with not being able to charge properly. At first it was intermittent, depending on how you held the plug and then it stopped charging permanently constantly dinging that the battery is charging and then not charging on and off ever 1/2 a second or so. I have had the laptop for less than a year so normally I would just bring it back to Walmart and do an even exchange. HOWEVER, because I purchased the 3 year extended warranty for $79, I had to submit a warranty repair request first. I obtained the RMA and was disappointed I had to pay for the shipping to Gateway to get the repair done. Because the stated the value of the shipment was $600, it cost me over $70 to protect the package against lost or damage. So, not only did buing the $79 extended warranty mean I couldn't do an IN-STORE EVEN EXCHANGE, I also had to pay another $70 to ship it to Gateway for the warranty repair. It took OVER 2 WEEKS to get the laptop back AND to my dismay, the repair was not successful. The laptop is still experiencing the same issues as before. The battery charges intermittently until it stopped charging all together. So, I'm back to square one and my productivity is taking a massive hit.
