We have used Dave's squash mix for years as a method of tuning down pasta sauce, add some great additional flavors. It's unfortunate our local Walmart doesn't stock it anymore, that I have to order it online.

I think this will work well with cut sausage bits. It also invites the use of alternative pastas made from other than wheat. Jar is more convenient than a can for single people.
