I bought this for medical purposes. This type frame provides extra stability when getting into and out of bed since my lower legs don't work properly, provides safety so I don't end up rolling off the bed (especially after spine surgery), and it opened more floor space to use my wheelchair. As an ambulatory paraplegic with autoimmune connective tissue disease, I had to open the box outside and bring the parts in bit by bit and built the frame myself in under 5 hours. It was easy to assemble. The parts are light weight. The most difficult part was the slats were hard to keep in place during the assembly process. I think all the slats should have screws to avoid this issue in the future. I had to build the bottom frame on its side to keep the slats lined up and I used the few slats that have screws as a guide for the ones that don't have screws. The rails provide a holding station for my bags so I can keep things like toothbrush, hair brush, gauze, meds, remote control for the TV, and other post-surgical items near me. The frame was cheaper than an adjustable bed and I love the versatility. It's in my living room as a daybed. I can raise or lower the bed depending on which surgery gets done first, be it the shoulder, fusion in my neck, fusion in my lumbar spine, or knee surgery. When raised, the option for under bed storage is nice for when more floor space is needed. I can also hang curtains on the frame for privacy during times when I need to wash up and change clothes (no showers or baths allowed after surgery). I'm a 4 ft 11 inch tall woman at 105 pounds so this bed frame is perfect for all of my post-surgical recovery and stability needs. The frame gives me all the leverage and safety I need. Sitting and standing are easier, transferring into my wheelchair is easier, the ability to hang my backpack with essential items in it works wonders, and the option for complete privacy using light weight curtains is great when needed. I can even use my battery operated camping light for reading or paying bills. It has a big hook on it so I attach it to one of the top rails if I can't get up to flip the wall switch to turn on a light. Limited mobility doesn't mean limited options. The only limited item in my life is my budget but this didn't break that either.
