It’s the Crosby G450 clamps that will help you efficiently create loop termination or join two or more wire ropes together without the need for swagging or socketing. It’s a crucial rigging hardware that’s easily installed, removed, or adjusted. The robust construction will ensure long-lasting performance despite continuous use. • Key Components: This Crosby wire rope clamp features three essential components for seamless functionality. The red, rounded U-bolt (thread diameter of .38") fits over the rope, the saddle where the U-bolt passes through, and nuts (size .69") to tighten the U-bolt, clamping the rope. It’s an easy-to-install to install hardware with no specialized tools or swagging equipment needed.
• Forged Steel Construction: The entire wire rope clip is constructed with forged steel for a greater rope bearing surface and more consistent strength. The clip is further galvanized to protect against corrosion and rust. The roller threads; base includes a Product Identification Code (PIC), the Crosby name (or CG), and size for tracing.
• Efficiency Rating: Based on the breaking strength of wire rope, this Crosby clip provides 80% efficiency for clip sizes of 1/8" to 7/8", whereas 90% efficiency for clip sizes of 1" to 3-1/2". Also, it meets and exceeds all requirements of ASME B30.26 & Federal Specification Number FF-C-450E.
• Applications: It is widely used in winch lines, guy lines, and sling assemblies to create loop terminations. It’s perfect for temporary rigging where permanent fittings are impractical. Thus, allowing quick and reusable connections for wire ropes. This rigging hardware allows the fitment of 5/16" rope diameter.
• Necessary Guidelines: 
  • Whenever installing, ensure to keep the proper number of clips based on the rope diameter (typically 2-5 loops).
  • Always place the saddle on the live end of the rope (not the dead end - follow “Never saddle a dead horse”).
  • Retighten after the initial load with a torque wrench.
  • Maintain proper spacing between clips (equal distance).
  • Inspect regularly for signs of wear, deformation, or loosening.
  • Do not use plastic-coated wire rope.
  • The number of clips you will require is 2 with a minimum turnback length of 5.25", and torque of 30 ft-lbs (recommended).
