Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies Flared Washable Mascara

For me, this is the ultimate mascara. I've tried all of the different variations in this line of mascaras (including the waterproof) and for me this is the absolute best of the bunch. Maybelline have a few similar looking mascaras in this range, and at times I've purchased the 'wrong one' by accident, so one of my criticisms would be the lack of distinct packaging. I used to wear false lashes a lot prior to discovering this mascara. Once I found this product I stopped wearing false eyelashes, and mentioned this to my partner who replied "what are you talking about? you are wearing fake eye lashes!" - this was the moment that sold me on this product since my partner clearly believed that I was wearing falsies. What a game changer! To achieve the thick and luscious lashes that look as good as false eyelashes I do put a number of coats on, until I'm happy with the darkness and thickness of my lashes. This means that you can alter how dramatic the look you achieve is, to suit your situation. For example I put less coats on if I'm going to work, and more on if I'm going to a social event or night time function. The flared look makes my eyes an amazing shape! When applying multiple coats like I tend to do to achieve a look similar to wearing false lashes, you need to ensure that the coats are dry between each application or otherwise the mascara will clump and your lashes will stick together and ruin the effect. How effective this mascara will be on your lashes would depend on what you've got to work with in terms of length, I have very fine eye lashes that aren't too short (but aren't very long either) so this mascara capitalises on the length of my lashes, appearing to extend them and to very definitely thicken them to make them more dramatic and intriguing. I love products like this one that make your eyes look bigger due to the lifted and lengthened flared effect.This product doesn't seem to dry out too quickly, meaning that I find a bottle will last a decent amount of time. I imagine this would be influenced by how often you use it, and if you're the sort of person who likes to repeatedly dip the brush in and out to try to coat the brush more - this isn't necessary with this product and all you will do is introduce unnecessary air which will dry it out faster. Once it has started to dry out you will find that the product will flake more over the course of the day, and if this happens it's a sure sign that you need to replace the mascara. This product is easy to remove with make up remover with minimal fuss or mess. I tend to remove mine in the shower each morning though, and I find that unlike other mascara types/brands it doesn't cause panda eyes when I do this because it doesn't run and stick to the skin around the eyes. It is important to note that when I remove this mascara, due to the thickness applied, I tend to use a gentle pinching motion to remove it, rather than a rubbing motion as trying to rub the mascara off will inevitably smudge it on the skin around the eyes. If you happen to get it in your eyes I've found that it doesn't sting very much at all, whereas when I've accidentally had other mascaras get into my eyes I've found that they can sting a lot!I've been using this product for years and I think it's fantastic, I couldn't recommend it more highly. There are cheaper brands available, but I'm yet to find a different brand (even one that is more expensive) that is as effective as this. It is certainly worth the money, and can save you money in that you won't need to purchase false eyelashes as often.
