High quality and convenient Japanese style rice

My small microwave heated this rice pack perfectly in 90 seconds as opposed to the instructions for 2 minutes. Try a shorter time first. I am not Asian but I am very familiar with how Asians like their rice. It is slightly sticky short grain and it barely has any sweet flavor at all despite the ingredients listing rice syrup. The texture is nice and nothing like the American pre-cooked rice pouches I have tried which have a rubbery chew. I added my usual soy sauce and a sprinkle of sesame seed furikake. I will try laying a fried egg on this in the morning and I'm sure it is going to be easy to drop in any hot soup you make to add rice instantly. This may be the right consistency for rolling sushi, after heating it up first. Worth a try but before heating, this rice is a pretty solid lump. The box is big and heavy and double boxed by Walmart. These packages will ship nicely and take some rough handling without a problem. The use by date gives me 7 months to use this case up. It will take me only 7 weeks if that. The Japanese container recycling codes are not compatible with USA recycling instructions. There is Japanese kanji writing that says 'plastic'. The trays should not be put in your recycling bins because sorters will reject them. Perhaps Shirakiku will see this and source properly marked plastic trays for their US market. A brown rice version of this product or a white/brown mix or multigrain would be appreciated by Americans who are always told that brown rice is far more nutritious. This is an excellent fast hot dish for lunch at work or any time you need some hot carbs fast.
