The bearings allow the weights to rotate on the barbell weight bearing sleeve instead of the whole barbell. This safety feature helps mitigate the risk of wrist injury when you are training dynamic weightlifting movements. In addition to this safety feature, the handlebar has medium knurling. Knurling is a series of diamond shaped incisions located on the bar’s handles, which allows you to maintain a firm grip on the barbell.These barbells have a sleeve that fits most standard 2” weight plates and has lubrication to help reduce snag when loading weight plates. It is inevitable that dirt, dead skin, and residual debris will infiltrate your barbell when used on a consistent basis. Furthermore, it is important to keep the bearings lubricated and the barbell clean in order to ensure maximum performance. We recommend adding any of our ABS, Nylon Resin, or Aluminum barbell collars to keep your weights from moving on the bar. Additionally, any of our Bumper, Calibrated, Iron, or Steel weight plates to increase your strength and conditioning training routine. Recommended Weight Capacity 500 lb for the 5 foot bar and 700 lbs for the 7 foot bar.
