For programmer

As a software analyst who do a lot of coding, emailing and editing this is the one. Why would I build one when there is one ready that is better than what I could build?

Lives up to the hype

The Q1 Max really does live up the the hype, and is well worth the premium price. The Jupiter Bananas switches feel very similar to my go-to lubed and filmed Boba U4T's, with just a hair less pre-travel. The sound profile is first rate, a creamy pop, no stab rattle. With RGB off, in 10 days of heavy use I've only used 10% of battery on 2.4GHz wireless. I wasn't sure I'd like the super tall KSA profile keys, but turns out I do - or at least, don't really notice the difference to OEM's most of the time. The heavy weight gives it a really solid feel, like it's nailed to the desk, with the gaskets providing just enough give that it softens the bottom out, without feeling mushy. You could easily spend twice as much to build a custom board that wouldn't have all the features the Q1 Max gives you. If you are on the fence about buying it ... my advice is mash that Buy button. You (probably) won't be disappointed.

Finally a good "thock"

I was not sure whether I should get this keyboard since I already had the Q1 Pro, but I decided to order it anyway as a sort of Christmas gift from myself to myself. And after a week or so of using it I can definitely say it was worth the upgrade! While the Q1 Pro has a solid foundation, unless you mod it quite a bit it is going to sound a bit hollow or "pingy". I did apply some stickers under the switches but it was only a very marginal improvement despite taking quite some effort to apply them. After that experience, I frankly did not bother to try more mods. The Q1 Max on the other hand sounds remarkably good right out of the box! It has just the right "thock" to it. No more pingy sound, nice keycaps, and the wireless dongle is a nice addition to the Bluetooth. If you are unsure which switches to get, I highly recommend the Banana switches.
