Most Authentic Store Bought Thai Red Curry Paste

My husband and I enjoy Thai curry, but to go out and get it is entirely too pricey for our family of 5, so we learned to make it. After trying numerous different red curry pastes, this is the one that we landed on as the best store bought. It has the most authentic taste and is easy to work with. Start by frying it until the oils start to separate and then add coconut milk slowly. Add in your protein and veggies along with some sugar, MSG, and fish sauce and there you have it! It's even better if you can get your hands on fresh Thai basil!

Newbie discovers red curry paste

I really only tried this one brand. It is cheap. It does the job. I haven't tried more than one brand, so I can't really tell if it's better than another. But, I always thought that it made tasty Thai meals. No complaints from others I cook for. Inside the tub is packed a plastic bag filled with the curry paste. Snip a corner, and squeeze a portion into your measuring spoons. You'll be using about a couple tablespoons for every recipe you'll prepare. This tub will last some time.

I'm very pleased with this paste flavor wise. For those of you that have been using Patek brand you need to taste this before you use it because it's hotter and a little saltier. Since I'm a fan of heat this wasn't a problem for me, just adjust the amount you use. The spices are intense in this paste and taste very fresh. I found the packaging to be a little bit difficult to work with because the tub contains a vacuum sealed pouch but whatever keeps it fresh is what's most important. Just cut a small corner off the pouch and squeeze out what you need.
