Since I was a young child we had pickled herring quite often. I lived in an area which had a lot of Jewish people and shops. We had the benefits of good Jewish food, one being our very favorite pickled herring with onions. The herring and onions were in a very large barrel. The shop keeper would put his hand in the barrel and bring out a lovely fresh herring and crisp cut onions. Using the hand instead of using a utensil did I no harm at all. With lovely crusty bread it made a beautiful sandwich which I am happy to say so does Vita Classic Herring. A nice small salad goes well with the sandwich and is really delicious. Try it and don't forget you are also getting your protein for the day. What a great way!
