Best Fit

I've had this oven for a little over a week. So far, I've made toast and baked fish filets with it. The toast was evenly browned and tasted better than from my standard toaster. Not sure why that is. The fish filets were delicious and baked in half the time it would take in my large stove oven using the convection baking feature. I baked the fish in a standard 13" X 9" GLASS baking dish WITH short handles at each end. It fit in the oven on the rack with room to spare. I also pulled all of my baking dishes and casseroles that I've used for years to see if they would fit as well. They all fit by making adjustments to the position of the racks in the oven. I am pleased that I can use the cookware I already own and don't have to spend extra money to buy bake ware and pans just to fit this oven. I haven't had it long enough to really report on the durability of it but it looks to be well made and has a 5 year satisfaction guarantee from Oster. Oster has an excellent reputation for products that last. I also own an Oster blender with the same guarantee that I've had for about a year. Since Oster products are available at such reasonable prices through Walmart I'm very likely to replace other things as they wear out with an Oster product. This is the largest countertop oven I could find that didn't cost a small fortune. I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. It is a very attractive appliance sitting on my center island for easy access. The settings and controls are easy to use even with the sparse instructions that came with the oven. I certainly won't miss heating up the whole house using my range oven other than for very large things such as a turkey or whole bone in ham for the holidays. It's already storing my extra baking pans that were being stored in my pantry! The only advice I would add is to be sure you have enough space for this oven on your kitchen counter with room for the heat to disperse. It is very large for this type of appliance. Exactly what I needed.

Nice and Large

I've always wished I could find a oven that was large enough to put my glass baking dishes in. This one is perfect for them. I can even put my large pizza stone in with a 16" pizza. I read other reviews where the clock looses time, but mine does not seem to have that problem. The timer will set up to 90 minutes. If I'm cooking longer than that I'll just set an external timer and reset the ovens time when it goes off. My door seems to be spring loaded. I always hold it with a potholder when opening. The handle does not seem to get super hot, but the cabinet gets pretty warm. Instruction say to keep it 6" from the wall. I set mine at an angle in the corner of my counter.

Works Great

This small size oven works great and does not seem to use a lot of energy. I have very finicky GFI receptacles and it hasn't flipped it yet. The convection bake turns itself off after about 15 min, so you have to be sure to keep watch on that and it does not then automatically revert to regular bake. The regular bake setting stays on until you shut it off. I have used the convection bake to bake 2 trays of cookies at the same time. The convection feature helps the heat flow around the pans, but the bottom tray does still not get enough heat so you have to switch the pans half way through the bake. This is not a microwave convection oven, it is a regular oven and the convection feature is a fan that helps the heat move evenly around the oven so it cuts down on baking time a little and helps things cook more evenly, such as cookies. The oven heats quickly, especially with convection setting, so you don't waste a lot of energy pre-heating. I used 1/4 size professional sheet pans. They are the perfect size for this oven. I can make 16 cookies at a time using the 2 sheets. You can fit a 9X13 casserole dish, 2 loaf pans on top shelf. It's the perfect size for a couple, or small family. The outside does get hot, but it has been designed to sit on your countertop, so it can be near the wall. For extra safety I make sure I have plenty of clearance around it just in case, especially if you are going to be cooking pizza in it as that is a high temp. The back of the oven has a round bump out on it so it can accommodate a round pizza pan or round cake pans. For the price this oven can't be beat, I showed it to my neighbors and they are getting one too.
