All I can say is the one I purchased gets very hot and I do mainly use it to cook frozen pizza's. Also, I don't even allow it to preheat but a couple of minutes before placing a pizza in. I cook small single pizza's and the larger 12 inch pizza's. When I cook a large frozen pizza, I generally turn it to 400 degrees for 20 minutes and then some times I turn it for a couple more minutes because I like it very crisp. I don't place it close to the wall because it does get hot. My only suggestion to the manufacturer is the cord could stand to be a big longer.
I have always owned Black & Decker Toaster ovens. They have always been reliable and have lasted a long time. When my old toaster finally stopped working after about 12 years of ownership I decided to research the new Black & Decker toaster ovens. When I saw that the 8 slice toaster oven was available I immediately purchased it. It is a little larger than I envisioned, however now that I have it I really love having the extra wide oven. I can cook larger items without having to turn on my regular oven. It works great, the dials work well and the convection feature helps cook the food more evenly. I love my new Black & Decker toaster oven!
For the short time I have had it, it's working perfectly. I do a lot of my summer cooking in my toaster oven, so I don't have to turn on my oven. I like warming up items in a toaster oven verses the microwave. I use my toaster oven daily. Black & Decker has always been a reliable product!
This oven is great for baking muffins in the 12 muffin tin. I have already made several batches of muffins, a pie, toast and bacon. The larger size is great. If you are looking for something you can bake a cake in or a nice batch of cookies, this oven is for you. I have only had it about a week but I think it will work out great. It is replacing a smaller Black & Decker toaster/convection oven that I have had for about 6 years. My old oven still works just fine but I wanted something that could hold a 9x13 pan or the larger muffin pan. This is just what I needed.
I bought this Black and Decker Toaster Oven because it can hold a 13x9 pan which it does with a little room to spare on both sides. I have also used it to toast garlic bread by putting a piece of foil on the rack. The garlic bread came out great, crisper around the edges but softer in the middle, just perfect! The oven is 21 l/2" wide so doesn't take up all of my counter space. I am still figuring out the timer so I now use a kitchen timer instead. All in all I am very happy with this oven and hope to have it a long time since it's great during the summer too.
This is a very nice looking toaster oven. Plenty big enough for 12" pizzas. I will probably never use my big oven again; which is ok with me. I hate cleaning it. I like the fact that this oven is low tech. No fancy electronic gadgetry. Twist the knob for toast and a slight ticking starts. A little bell tells you it's done. Dimensions: 21" W x 13" D x 11.5" H. Without the handle
I wish the included instructions were more helpful, (VERY SCANT!) especially as to the placement of the crumb tray. I didn't figure out it was 'external' until I went to the Black & Decker web-site, and that was after a couple days of toast browned on ONE side only! I was ready to return it but now I can see where the crumb tray goes. The 1st picture shows how small and misleading the description photo is (see #6 and no indication it is 'external' crumb tray). The second picture shows a protective shield over the heating element of my older oven, model # to1675B, that this newer model doesn't have. I hope that doesn't turn out to be something I wish it had later. I hope you post my review even though it has a couple of criticisms...
Received my toaster oven a couple of weeks ago. Right out of the box I liked the sleek looks of it and how sturdy it is made. It runs very quietly on bake and the toaster part seems to work well too and the first thing I did after setting it up was try all my 9 x 13 bake pans in it and they all fit with room to spare. This is my first toaster oven so I have nothing to compare it to. But I'm 99% satisfied so far. Oh another thing it only smoked a little bit the first time I used it and the handle on the door didn't get that hot when I used it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the cord is a little short. I have mine setting on a microwave stand and my plug in is down by the floor board. So had to buy a heavy duty extension cord so I could plug the toaster oven in. They say Black and Decker is a good brand. So I'm hoping to get many good years of service out of this one.
