Dx on 40 meters? This is the one!

Impressed with the quality of this antenna. Well built. As far as performance it exceeded my expectations. I have it ground mounted with 32 1/4 wave radials for 40 meters. Excellent dx antenna on 40 meters. I havnt really used it on the other bands to give full review however no tuner is needed on 20/15/10. Due to the extensive radial field for 40 meters i do use the tuner. This antenna will not disappoint you. It works.

So far so good

The rating is based on assembly ease. The antenna was very easy to assemble. I found the instructions easy to follow whereas I've seen comments that they are not. Due to a pending operation, I won't have time to install and test for several months. Hopefully, it will work and be stealthy enough to keep the HOA at bay. I'm planning to install the antenna on the ground hidden by two tall cactus. Unfortunately, the ground radials will not be installed in a 360 degree circle due to limited area.

Getting cheaper quality.

Hustler antennas used to be good. But according to the directions, you have to put some of the tubes together with the hose clamps you only put them on at about a inch and a half, which makes it very flimsy. In fact, myself and a neighbor put it up and one of the sections broke. So I had to get a hacksaw and cut off the broken piece, and cut slats in it, and put on 2 more hose clamps. Then we got it up, but it's still a little bent over. Even with guy ropes. The surprise is, it still tunes most of the bands. I will use it as a backup antenna.
