Drum Sets in Drums
About Drum Sets in Drums - Walmart.com
At what age should I buy my child a drum set if they're interested in playing?
Kids can start learning to play the drums as young as 6 or 7 years old, though kids ages 9 through 12 are usually able to get a better grasp on the instrument and are more physically able to reach the parts of a drum set. That said, many companies make a junior drum set that's aimed at kids who want to start playing when a little younger, so consider starting with one of those if your child is under 9.
What size drum set should I start with as an adult?
Many teachers recommend starting out with a four or five-piece drum set if you're a beginning adult learning to play. The average four-piece drum set has a snare drum, floor tom, mounted tom, and bass drum. Some sets may have an extra floor tom rather than a tom. It works for all genres of music, and it's especially common with jazz and rock musicians. A five-piece drum set has a snare drum, two rack toms, a floor tom, and a bass drum. This allows you a little more variety, but the five-piece sets can be more expensive.
What makes up drum hardware?
Drum sets are made up of three parts: cymbals, drums, and hardware. The hardware might include drum sticks, bass drum pedals, cymbal stands, drum heads, drum thrones, and anything else that you might need that isn't a drum or a cymbal. Think of the hardware as the drum set's accessories.
