CHI Retractable Cord Iron, Titanium-Infused Ceramic Soleplate, Black, 13106F

I wear cotton clothes all summer, so that means ironing them. I just pull down the ironing board and give a quick iron to the collars, seams, shirttails, and so forth, and I ENJOY ironing with the CHI Retractable Cord Iron. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the retractable cord. But my main use of the iron is in the KITCHEN. I use it to toast bread to make fancy grilled cheese sandwiches and pressed sandwiches! This iron is joy to use! I am no longer using my little travel iron, which I had bought thinking it would be easier to use. Well, it was not because I had to move it and move it and move it, but the big CHI iron covers a lot more and I just "squinch" it from side to side, and the ironing is DONE or the sandwich is DONE! If you haven't used your iron in the kitchen, you should. Fancy grilled cheese is very popular right now. I love it. I don't have a pan to wash after making dinner and guests get a huge kick out of seeing their sandwiches ironed! It's easy to do! Get a good-sized piece of "tinfoil," which is "aluminum wrap" now, I guess. Get it long enough to fold like a book page. Get your sandwich ready. Put the sandwich in the "book." Get your iron (I have it on first steam setting). Press the sandwich lightly or medium pressure, depending on how compressed you want it to be. I like mine very compressed, like a panini. Flip the whole book over and iron the other side. Pull back the foil and voila, your grilled cheese is ready. I'm including a recipe below. Picosa Queso Sandwich - Little Bit Spicy Grilled Cheese CHI Iron Tinfoil folded like a book page, big enough to easily cover the sandwich. Sandwich is tucked INSIDE while cooking Sandwich bread (any kind of sliced bread). I use POTATO and OAT NUT for most of the sandwiches. White "artisan" bread also a good choice (it's thick). Mayo Spreadable butter or margarine Sliced cheese. In this case, Pepper Jack Sliced meat if you like meat, such as salami or very thin ham. Roasted red peppers from a jar Spread mayo inside the bread, both pieces Spread margarine on the bread, both pieces Now you have MAYO on one side of the slice, MARGARINE on the other, right? Put on a layer of cheese on one slice ON THE MAYO SIDE Put on the DRAINED roasted red peppers Put on the meat or more cheese on top of the peppers Put on the top slice, mayo side down. Put the sandwich inside the folded tinfoil. It's folded like a book page. Put on your counter and make sure you have trivets, hot pads, or a folded towel or tiles below it. PRESS the heated iron on the tinfoil above the sandwich. Steam will come from inside the tinfoil. Move your iron around a bit. DON'T peek in the tinfoil until you can lift it right off. If you try to peek too soon, the bread isn't toasted and it will pull the bread off. Once it is nice and toasted (FAST), FLIP the tinfoil and sandwich inside it over. Iron the other side. Now just slide or pull your finished sandwich out YOU CAN DO A LOT OF SANDWICHES with just that one piece of folded tinfoil Let iron cool and then retract the cord. The size, lightness, and the retractable cord are my favorite parts of this iron.

I never thought I'd be so thrilled with an Iron, but this CHI Iron has really Wowed me! It works great! It's made by the company that makes the wonderful CHI flat irons for hair and seems to be of similar high quality. This iron really gets the wrinkles out! The setting dial is easy to read and also makes a soft clicking sound when turned when it reaches the desired setting. The water reservoir is easy to fill without overflowing or spilling down iron. The water level can be a little difficult to see because of the red color, but it is visible. The sole plate is Titanium infused ceramic. It glides easily over clothes. The steam function is adjustable and powerful. The misting button is easy to push and lets out a nice fine mist. The retractable cord keeps the cord out of the way when being stored and at the correct length when ironing. With a push of a button it retracts easily, it does not "whip" back into the iron. One of my favorite features is the pointed sole plate. It seems to be pointier than my previous iron. This feature is really good at getting along the seams.
