Ancient grains, healthy for your body and soul.

Once you see ancient grains, it has to get your attention. Millet happens to be it. I had no idea what that was, but boy was I happy when I read it. With a mild, slightly sweet, nutty flavor, it's a versatile staple in Africa and Asia, it's also difficult to find as tastes changes. It's Gluten free, easy for the stomach, with fiber and iron. I have been getting Eat Regal products for the past few weeks, and now I am using their rices as a healthy alternative for sides. I am very happy that Walmart is offering items that most places don't. My new favorite is also Biryani Style Rice which Eat Regal also makes. You have got to give this a try!

healthy and convenient!

This company sells products that are tasty and very convenient. I know because I have bought their products before, locally, when I knew I would be limited to a microwave and a mini fridge for my meals. I especially love their cilantro rice, and I'm pretty certain that they also make some of the microwavable pasta dishes we buy. My husband especially likes the jasmine rice, so I am hoping he will also like this one. We have been trying to eat more whole grains lately.

Very healthy whole grain mix

The contents appear to be just over half brown rice and the rest is the other grains so they are not going cheap on this blend. There is very little oil detected, I guess there is just enough sunflower oil to prevent sticking. Each pouch is enough for two side dishes or one main course with the addition of sauce or curry of your choice. It is OK with just soy sauce or butter and I plan to top some with sauteed mushrooms next. These pouched grains are not as chewy as they used to be, and brown rice is certainly a grain likely to be chewy compared to white rice. I'd just call it a satisfying chew. These grains can take so long to cook and that fact makes these instant serving pouches all the more convenient. When I first opened the snug and protective shipping box I noticed a lingering chemical smell. Investigating further, it is the cardboard box itself that has an unusual odor inside and out but that did not penetrate the pouches at all to get in the grains which have a very wholesome aroma before and after being heated. I'm sure Eat Regal will rectify this cardboard odor issue shortly. Recommended.
