L'Oréal Excellence is a great hair color product for at-home coloring. I've used it for years and the color result is always nice with full gray coverage and lots of shine. The scent of this hair color isn't overwhelming like some and the consistency of the color is great. It doesn't drip or run. It's a quick, easy process. I really like the shampoo and conditioner that come with the hair color too and wish they sold these exact products separately. Although my grays are coming in more now, I'm not ready to go gray. When my gray roots are showing I feel less confident about my appearance and of course they're all front and center, framing my face. Lol! Once I color my hair, I feel better. I know there are many women who prefer to let their hair naturally transition to gray, but I'm not one of them. If you choose to color your hair at home, any of L'Oréal's formulas will treat your hair well. One word of caution though….its been my experience that the color results for brunettes, while beautiful and shiny, are often a little darker than would be expected. Honestly, I think this happens no matter what brand of color you use. I use L'Oréal %236 for light brown hair and to me, the result is more of a medium brown. I guess this could be affected by your hair's condition, texture and how long the color is left on your hair, but I'd recommend going a shade lighter than you want, especially if it's your first time coloring. I also recommend using a sulfate free shampoo to maintain your color longer. Good luck!
