BT cord free BBQ Thermometer

I purchased the bbq thermometer about a month ago. I have used it twice and I have had to replace the battery already. I thought that I may have not turned it off but it has an Auto-off feature so this should not have been a problem. While I was using it, it was constantly disconnecting from the app. I had to keep pushing the button to reconnect it. I was about 12 inches away from the meat so I was in range. It was very frustrating. Since I have purchased a new battery and installed it, hopefully this will resolve the problem. As far as I could tell, the temperature was accurate which has been a issue with other types of thermometers I have used in the past. It would have been helpful if you could use it without the app. if needed. I have also purchased another thermometer as back up in case it happens again.
