Great Filters for Better Tasting Coffee

I have a Cuisinart coffee machine that grinds and brews that is about 10 years old. I also have another Cuisinart coffee maker that is a basic low-end model that was purchased a few years back. I can use the GoldTone premium replacement charcoal water filter in both machines. My coffee tastes so much better. It is suggested that the filter is replaced every month. The value for the filters is fantastic. I plan on purchasing more filters shortly, since I live in a big coffee drinking household.

Best price

After checking around at several places, I found that this was the best price possible. I was very happy to get 12 filters for the same price as it would cost for two filters on the product website.

The branded filters are 4x more expensive!

Coffee filters seem to be generally high priced. These coffee filters are sold in stores and online mostly at $8 for two filters, so getting 12 for less then $8 seems like a big win. Are the cheaper filters inferior? Who knows? I can't tell if the coffee made without filters is any different than that made with filters, because I have never had unfiltered coffee. But our local tap water is hard, so it seems that filtering the water should keep down scaling inside the coffee maker. It is hard to imagine the cheaper filters are actually inferior. The outside dimensions of the filter fit the filter holder in the coffeepot. How much could actually be saved by using poorly -activated charcoal?
