The CS2230 drive is designed to be a SATA SSD replacement to help realize faster boot times, quicker application launches, and better overall system performance. Do more in less time with NVMe; boot up, power down, and load applications up to 6 times faster than with SATA based SSDs. With no moving parts, the PNY CS2230 M.2 NVMe SSD is highly durable, less likely to fail, and features a 5-year limited warranty or TBW. ¹For Flash Media Devices, 1 megabyte = 1 million bytes; 1 gigabyte = 1 billion bytes. Used in NVMe enclosure to create a backup drive
Super easy to install this PCIe M.2 SSD in a typical external enclosure that's designed for an NVMe. Makes for a high quality compact backup drive for a notebook computer. However, i noticed the drive performance waining after 15 minutes at full data transfer rates when I made my initial system backup. I suspected it was due to overheating of the SSD and poor thermal dispersion in the sealed plastic NVMe enclosure. Simply attaching a M.2 thermal pad to the SSD improved heat dissipation and all that was required to keep the temperature down and the performance consistently high. Definitely recommended.
