I got my first jar opener years ago (and it was the same brand). My arthritic hands just wouldn't let me open so many jars, and I choose glass over metal whenever I can. That opener finally gave up the ghost after a respectable number of years of service, and I was shocked at how much the price increased since I bought my first one. When I saw this pair for the price of just one Robotwist, I ordered it quickly. I am giving the second one to a friend who also has increasing difficulty opening jars. Nothing compares to this opener. I've literally never had a jar it couldn't open (of the jars that it's made to open, meaning not small bottles of catsup and such). My husband and I joke about what we couldn't eat without this little device (now that he has chipped the glass on the rim of more than one jar with the old beat-the-lid-with-the-fat-end-of-a-knife procedure). One note about the design: I would almost swear that my old Robotwist allowed me to press the button once (instead of pressing and holding the button), and it automatically ran until it detected that the lid was off. I don't like having to press and hold the button until the lid pops off. It's a little thing, but the old design was better.
