I've owned several of these poppers over the years and it has to be one of the best on the market.
I've looked at some of the more high end products and simply cannot see paying the price some of them are asking for a particular brand that is 'suppose' to give you REAL movie theater popcorn.
I popped corn right after I picked the popper up at Wally World. Actually, that turned out to be dinner for me. It was a snap to clean the machine, then I simply poured in an 'all inclusive popping kit' that included oil, salt & popcorn (Wabush Valley Farms) and let the machine do it's thing. A few minutes later I had 6 quarts of some of the best popcorn ever!!
The second time I used it, I added Redenbacher's Buttery Flavor oil & popcorn, put butter in the cup and let it work it's magic. Once it was done, I snapped the cap on the butter tray, turned the machine over (watch out for steam when removing the lid), added some White Cheddar Popcorn Seasoning and had another fluffy buttery bowl to enjoy. YUMMY!!
This has to be the easiest popper I've ever used. It certainly beats doing popcorn on the stove and even has Redenbacher's Movie Style pour over microwave popcorn beat. That's about the only kind of microwave popcorn I'll touch.
The stir bar keeps the popcorn moving so each seed pops and the corn comes out fluffy, tender and delicious. Plus, you can make limited batches if you only want a little, although I can normally eat 6 quarts all by myself.
I like the fact that the cover can be used as the bowl as that means less dishes and, since I also like my popcorn buttered on occasion, it's a breeze to add real butter to the cup and watch it mix with the popcorn while it's popping.
Clean up is pretty much a breeze. Warm water, grease cutting dish soap and a soft wash cloth take care of the whole machine. The stir bar is easy to remove and the non-stick surface is a quick swipe away from being ready for the next use.
Needless to say, I am in 7th Heaven now that I can have delicious popcorn at the drop of a hat. Who wouldn't want one of these in the house for movie night, midnight snacks, or even a meal if you don't feel like cooking anything else?
