Number ONE Paring Knife!
The Faberware Edgekeeper 3 1/2” Parer with Self Sharpening Sheath (Knife), is the usual well made Faberware product. It is very sturdy and looks great. It has a high-carbon, stainless blade with a ergonomically designed handle for comfort while cutting. With its Self-Sharpening Sheath, this makes a great duo for a long lasting, sharp product to be used for years and years! The knife, with its 3 1/2” inch blade, is so versatile in its usage that it is one knife you just can’t do without in the kitchen. If you could only have two knifes, this definitely would be one of them! The Self-Sharpening Sheath is another great product and one that will not only keep the knife sharpened properly for each use, but a overlooked plus is that it will extend the life of the knife for years. Sharpening this knife, or any knife, by hand and not knowing what you are doing will greatly reduce the useful life of the knife! Plus, it is sharpened each and every time it comes out of the Sheath and is ready to go! The Knife is also protected when not in use, by being in the Sheath. This Sheath is truly a dual use product for many years of faithful service.
Great Addition to your Kitchen
This knife is just the right size for my hand. It is very sharp. I like that it has a sheath to keep it covered and sharpened. Just wash with hot water and a little soap, hand dry and cover with sheath. I was taught to never put knives in a dishwasher or allow them to soak in water. I used the knife for the first time cutting up a shoulder roast into 4” pieces so I could cook it in my pressure cooker. The roast was about 3 ½ “ thick. It cut right through the meat. The knife itself is lightweight. This knife will also come in handy when cutting up smaller grape tomatoes or fruit. I’m not sure I would use it to peel potatoes as I prefer another gadget for that job. I think this knife will last a long time. We live on the lake and I will have to watch my husband so that he doesn’t sneak it outside to his fish cleaning table.
Nice Knife for Peeling and Chopping
Farberware Edgekeeper 3.5" Parer with Self-Sharpening Sheath is a nice addition to my kitchen knives. I cut and peel apples more than three times per week and was in need of a good paring knife that stays sharp. When I saw the Farberware Parer, I wanted to give it a try since I already have another Farberware ceramic knife that I am very happy with. This paring knife has not let me down. The things I like are the handle, color, blade cover with self-sharpening and the size. The handle is a good fit for my hand and still felt comfortable after peeling and chopping a bag of apples. With all the different colors you can get in knives now, I really prefer the basic black handle. The blade cover is a must for me. I have two small children, one of which can open child-proof drawers now. It makes me feel a bit more at ease when his little hands reach into the silverware drawer knowing sharp knife blades are covered. As a bonus, this knife cover has an added sharpener inside. I thought this was such a neat idea. So each time the knife is put into the cover and taken out, the blade gets sharpened. A sharp knife is a nice added benefit to peeling skins off fruit and vegetables. The size is right for a good paring knife. I have had some over the years that were too small but I find this one to be perfect. I should note that like many knives the package says it should not go in the dishwasher. I must admit I have tossed it in without the cover and it came out looking good as new.
