My daughter is going to be 16months about 22pounds and this Sea choice type3 jacket fits well and really does make her float as if she was unconscious. In an above ground pool 14feet wide,14feet length, 4feet deep. I still hold her, of course. If you don't know too much about staging on life jackets then I'm letting you know that this is not a half size upper body life jacket(not 1or2 stage) nor will your child sit up if you were to let lose or go. This is the best way I can describe life jacket. Full size, all around,strap, floats on backside, child will lie down life jacket.( Meaning type 3 jacket). I'm happy with product. FULL COVERAGE and feel my baby is safe in jacket. Still please keep child with you.
