Plenty loud, It's only a 5" speaker, but loud for the price and could be heard easily on my 1/2 acre back yard, and wasn't halfway up! There is a second volume on the MP3 player face, look carefully at the forward/ vol button. (hold down "Fwd / Vol to increase level) I assume this is so if you use it as a Karaoke device, you can control the music level and still have a MIC volume. But what I did is plugged my guitar in the mic input and used the delay knob for effect. Great practice amp, definitely plenty of Jammin' volume. We use it around the house playing mp3's and it goes for days without re-charging. Housing seem durable enough. Would I buy again? YEP.
