COAST PX75 UV LED Flashlight – 400NM, Pocket Clip, Water-Resistant, 2.3 oz

A UV flashlight is sort of a specialized thing, not many people own them. They seem to be somewhat of a curiosity but actually have several uses. Coast markets this as a "scorpion light", and if you have scorpions where you live, then you really need one of these. I went out in my yard with it and didn't find any, but I guess that's a good thing! I would certainly take this camping, you wouldn't want to throw your sleeping bag down somewhere without checking first. Kids also love them. I have another use for this that's not too common but a UV light is something that I use quite often. I had a little cheap one but this one from Coast is much, much nicer. I'm an antique dealer, and specialize in old military gear. A UV light is the easiest way to judge the age of certain items, like cloth and paper. Optical brighteners began to be used in the 1950's; they are chemicals added to certain products to make whites brighter and other colors more brilliant. They also glow brightly under UV light. In the picture, I am comparing a modern military patch ( top) with a WW2 patch. See the difference? Any cloth or paper made during or before WW2 will not glow. Anyway, this little light is the best one I have seen, it will be used plenty!
