Strong anchor winch

This is the second Minn Kota Deckhand 40 anchor winch that I have purchased. I purchased my first one a few months ago and installed it on the stern of my 17 foot bass boat. The stern anchor winch worked so well that I bought a second one and installed it on the bow of my boat. I also have the remote switch for each anchor winch located on my control console. I first tried using a 20 pound river anchor on the stern anchor winch, but found that it would not hold my boat if the wind was blowing. The lake that I fish has a clay bottom and I think the river anchor was sliding on the bottom of the lake. I strapped a 10 pound bar bell weight to the bottom of the 20 pound river anchor and it now holds my boat very well. The Deckhand 40 easily lifts the 30 pounds of anchor weight. I often fish for trout, catfish and stripped bass using two anchors to keep the boat from moving around. I am over 65 years old and pulling up two anchors every time I moved to a different fishing location was not fun. The Deckhand 40's are a great addition to my boat.

Use a 20lb anchor

As always Minn kota blew it out of the water! This auto anchor is by far the best option that was available for my boat. With the auto stop you know exactly when it touches bottom. Awesome product once again!
