So I picked this up because my last wireless charging dock wasn't magnetic, which was a massive pain. There was always a strict "Goldilocks spot" where you had to place the phone perfectly, and half the time I'd set it down haphazardly before going to sleep only to wake up to a dead battery. Having a solid magnet on this new one completely fixes that since it snaps right into alignment every single time. The design is really smart. The actual footprint it takes up on my table is tiny because everything is stacked vertically—the phone hangs in the air and the AirPods sit on the base right below it, instead of being horizontally spread out like my old setup. There's a middle section for an Apple Watch, but I don't even use a smartwatch. They designed it perfectly though, because the watch mount folds away and hides itself without awkwardly protruding out if you don't need it. It charges at a decent speed and the magnet is actually really strong. It holds the phone completely steady, though sometimes it's almost a little hard to wrench the phone off the stand one-handed because the grip is so tight. Honestly, that's not a real complaint though—I'd much rather have a strong magnet than a weak one that drops my device. Another huge plus is using it for iOS StandBy mode. Since it holds the phone in landscape, it turns into a clean bedside night clock. If I wake up in the middle of the night, I can just glance over to check the time and immediately crash back to sleep. For a clean, space-saving desktop or nightstand charger, it's definitely a buy.
