MAGNIFIQUE 4.5 Quart Cream White Glass Claypot Multi-Cooker, Programmable Round Slow Cooker with Removable Glass Pot

I got this Magnifique cooker mainly as a slow cooker, but I was really curious about the pasta button so that is what I tried first. I put in 12 ounces of small shaped pasta. The manual does not give a water ratio for pasta, so I just added enough water to cover it. I hit pasta, and the display does not give you a time at all, it just runs on its own. When it beeped and switched over to keep warm, there was still quite a bit of water left in the pot like in my photos. I left it on warm for another 10 minutes and then it was fine. The pasta was cooked through and not mushy. It will take some doing to get the ratios correct for less than 16 ounces and for different types of pasta. I am also guessing rice will be the same issue, since those options are not timed and you have no real control over the cooking. I am giving it four stars because the directions are very vague. Other than that, the cooker itself is pretty, the glass pot cleans easily, it heats evenly, and I can't wait to try it on other foods like oatmeal, soups, and slow-cooked meals. Pros: • Attractive glass pot with lid, nice on the counter • Lots of functions in one base • Pasta did cook, even without exact instructions Cons: • No water amounts listed for pasta or rice based on type and amounts • Pasta/rice/proof settings do not show or let you set a time • Manual is thin on details If they updated the instructions, it would be a solid five stars for me.
