I think this is only 2.5 quarts if you fill it right up to the brim. It's smaller than what I expected. When I put 2 quarts of water in it, the level is higher than the bottom of the cover so it gets messy. I'm used to 2 quart pitchers that leave space between 2 qts of liquid and the cover. If you're making a drink and you need 2 qts of water to mix it either use less water or be very careful so you don't spill. Other than the small size I like the design of the pitcher. A lot of plastic pitchers have bumps or lines or seams on the inside and after long term use that area becomes harder to clean. I like that the inside is completely smooth, just wish it was bigger.
