There are so many times I need a good scuff pad, but all I have is an old well worn one. These can be tricky to find in a local store, so it's really convenient to have a full box of them. If you haven't ever used them, you'll be impressed. I am repainting the pool cage. Sandpaper is too aggressive. The scuff pad cuts through the outer layer for good adhesion of the new paint.
