Tasty, But Small Portions

We've tried some of the other Dolly foods, so we gave the frozen dinners a try. They are tasty. They're just small portions. Out of the box, you think, “That's it?” After it cooks, it's not much more. It really does depend on your appetite, though. Dainty eaters may think that it's plenty. Maybe the portion is good for a frozen lunch. But bigger appetites will need side items to make it dinner. The chicken and dumplings variety was good. There's a good balance of chicken to the dumplings, carrots, small veggies, and gravy. It's a dinner that we'd buy again and keep on hand for when we don't feel up to cooking.

I really enjoyed this meal. The chicken gravy had excellent flavor, superior to other frozen offerings. The dumplings had a pleasing texture and were plentiful and the carrors were yummy. There was a very generous amount of cubed white meat chicken, but instead of spongy white chicken I'd prefer de-fatted pieces of chicken thigh meat—it has better texture and flavor. I could have done with more carrots and celery and a little less chicken. The dinner was adequate to satisfy a light to medium appetite. All in all I will buy this dinner/entree again when I want a convenient meal.

I invited friends over (all over 65) who are looking for tasty, easy to prepare foods. the chicken and dumplings was considered good. Portion was perfect size and it was satisfying. Suggestions to zazz it up included more spice since taste buds need help as we age.
