[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design of this flat iron is different in that it has two separate plates. Each plate is very narrow, with a gap in between them. Each plate can also be set to it's own temperature. So far I have set both plates to the same temperature because I switch the direction I hold it. I believe the point is to have the plate that passes through the hair last to be cooler than the first. One good pass and my hair is SMOOTH. Unless I have a really frizzy, kinky piece, I usually do not need to pass through my hair a second time. The max temperature is 455 but I don't need to go any higher than 400 for my hair. In the past, I've used my 1.5" flat iron to curl my hair, so I was curious how this thicker design with two separate plates would work to curl my hair. It does work, it just leaves wider curls which is to be expected since it is a wider flat iron. I actually love the wide curls I'm able to achieve with this flat iron. Without one negative thing to say about this product, I would highly recommend it!
