Methemoglobinemia Warning – Use of this product may cause methemoglobinemia, a serious condition that must be treated promptly because it reduces the amount of oxygen carried in blood. This can occur even if you have used this product before. Stop use and seek immediate medical attention if you or a child in your care develops: pale, gray or blue colored skin (cyanosis), headache, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, dizziness or lightheadedness, fatigue or lack of energy. Allergy alert: do not use this product if you have a history of allergy to local anesthetics such as procaine, butacaine, benzocaine, or other “caine” anesthetics. If a skin reaction occurs, stop use and seek medical help right away. Sore Throat Warning – Severe or persistent sore throat or sore throat accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea, and vomiting may be serious. Consult a doctor promptly. Fast relief, and that was the goal.
I had a sore throat for a couple of days and finally did a home delivery of this and some non-drowsy antihistamine and some sore throat lozenges....I used the spray right away, then took an antihistamine and the lozenges were not necessary....the spray did the trick...used it again before I went to bed and by morning the sore throat was gone. No ick taste, easy to use.

A cold burn of mentholated goodness.
So let's be honest this is one of those over-the-counter medications you buy because you want to at least try to treat your health problem at home before you end up taking a trip to your doctor's office or to urgent care and spend an arm and a leg. And if you have a sore throat using this spray will definitely buy you a day or two before you end up going to see a doctor and who knows, in that time your sore throat may go away on its own so yay no doctor's bill. Like 99% of all OTC medications like this it's essentially a bottle of alcohol and water, in this case with just enough benzocaine and menthol to hit your mouth with a cool, minty burn that feels like it's beating your sore throat into sweet sweet submission. The thing is though is it says right on the bottle not to swallow this stuff so if your sore throat is any deeper than the back of your mouth this probably won't help very much. But it's worth a try and may get you past your sore throat without a trip to the doctor.
