Kwikset Kevo Touch-to-Open Smart Lock 2nd Gen in SN

We've owned a Kevo2 since at least 1/27/2017. The lock uses 4 AA batteries. I've logged the battery use on an Excel spreadsheet since 1/27/2017. I've been unable to find good battery life information online, so this may be it. I've called Kevo on 12/29/2019 and they recommend alkaline batteries- Duracell and Energizer- not lithium. Kevo online did not recommend rechargeable. Noticed the bezel lights not working twice and fixed by reseating battery pack. Over the course of 3 years and 12 days our average battery life was 65.76 days. The lock has 5 users and rarely had more for limited short term access. The longest battery life was the original batteries at 131 days, however, don't recall brand. After 4 battery changes started noting brands. In order best performers: 111 days regular Duracell black/gold one time and once at 98 days; 109 days regular Engergizer black/silver one time; and shortest was 30 days Energizer black/silver. In our experience plan on replacing battery every 1 - 2 months when your lock alerts you. As understood, in the past there was a bug giving early battery notifications and presume fixed, however, again, expect to replace battery every 1 - 2 months and perhaps less depending upon number of users. We have a busy household. In my opinion, even on a lock with one user, I'd be surprised if battery goes 6 months. If going to be gone for an extended period, advise changing battery early and/or instructing house/pet sitter in how to change battery. I have an old scientific calculator I still use and bought some time May '95 - March '98 but most likely summer '95 when in the military. It has a battery I've never had to change AND a small solar cell. Most front doors would get plenty of light and our front door gets a lot. Wouldn't it be nice if Kevo could incorporate solar to extend battery life? Just like school signs and other traffic signs. All things considered, battery life is the lock's weakness. The lock's small fragile cable locking arm needs a little re-think on design. Also, consider getting Kevo Plus. We have it with no negative comments. I Love that I can touch and lock my door without a key as long as I have my phone with me.
