Zip riser runs a mechanical fan on small block Chevy

I bought three items: the Zip riser, Chevy 6 cylinder water pump and a shim kit. I had a Zip on a previous '32 roadster and it allowed me to raise the fan line about 5 inches, centering it in the radiator. I then used a flex fan and a shroud I made to make my 383 run cool in all weather. I like the idea of using a mechanical rather than an electric fan on an old school hot rod. I'm building a new '32 roadster and will use the Zip riser on it. I also like that the casting quality is good enough to clear coat to feature it, or paint it to subdue it. I like the built in alternator mount too. I'm not using AC so the AC mount won't be used. It's a good idea to drill a small bypass hole in the thermostat to let captured air escape. The Zip has a small screw at the top to bleed off captured air (a must). The screw is easy to drop and lose. A brass air bleed off valve is available from GM pt# 10070107. You will have to drill out the hole and tap it to 1/8""pipe thread.

Purchased for Model A project

Purchased this to raise the water pump on my model A project. To center the fan in my radiator. I also like it because you can mount your alternator and a/c compressor to it. Dual purpose. I will use a high volume water pump. For the price they could have included gaskets and bolts. The instruction sheet tells what you need.

Really nice

This is really nice setup for putting a sbc in a model A ford chassis. The quality is very nice. I removed the bracket for the AC since I am not running AC. Bleeding the air out of the system is a real pain..I wound up using an air lift system. The 6 cly pump in my opinion is not up to snuff on engines with a lot of horsepower. I never had overheating problems until I installed an engine making 400hp. I like the riser and a mechanical fan, so my next step is to try a high volume 6 cyl pump. I still would recommend the riser, works best with lower hp engines.
