But it's the only thing that works for the icing on traditional Christmas cookies—the sugar cookies that one decorates for Christmas.

The next 3 numbers are the day of the Julian year out of 365 days. The last 3 numbers are the place of manufacture. Example: LOT%23 25091152. 25=year 2025. 091=day 091 out of 365. 152=place of manufacture. Based on the 2025 Julian calendar, this meringue was manufactured on 04/01/2025. I keep a printout of the most recent 3 Julian calendar years in my cookbook for easy reference.
