Clicker works but pointer failed

I have been using this remote in my classroom since the start of the school year in August. We only do limited presenting in the class, so I expected the remote to last a long time. While the remote still works to change between slides, the laser pointer has completely stopped working. This is a bit frustrating give the need to draw students' attention to different parts of the screen while moving around the classroom. Very disappointed with the quality.
