You have to understand what you are buying here to be satisfied. This is not an ordinary rug. It's thin, foldable, and the bottom is kind of like a rubber mat. It is machine washable, but because of the soft material it is very easy to spot clean and stains come out easily, I have cleaned the rug many times and it still looks like new. I have a large capacity LG washer without an agitator and it is perfect for cleaning. I just throw it in like a load of laundry and let it wash itself. It definitely makes mom's life easier. It gets a little rippled when folded and takes a little while to flatten out. Overall, very happy with this purchase.
